Dementia & Carers: Information and Resources
Whether you are living with dementia, caring for someone with dementia, supporting a family member or friend, experiencing memory concerns, or simply interested in learning more, we hope these resources are helpful.
Dementia affects thousands of people and families across the UK. Recognising the signs early can help people access the right support, treatment, and services sooner.
Could it be dementia?
Some common symptoms include:
- Memory loss that affects daily life
- Difficulty finding the right words
- Confusion about time or place
- Problems making decisions or solving problems
- Changes in mood, behaviour, or personality
- Difficulty carrying out familiar tasks
Experiencing one of these symptoms does not necessarily mean someone has dementia: many people experience one or two of these signs now and again. This can be for lots of reasons such as being physically poorly, being tired, being busy, or feeling stressed or low in mood. However, if you have concerns that you (or a family member, friend or neighbour) are experiencing changes in memory that you are noticing regularly, and for which you can see no other explanations, it is important to seek advice.
The checklists below are designed to help individuals, family members, carers, and friends recognise potential signs of dementia and encourage timely conversations with a GP if concerns arise.
