Contraception Now Available at Local Pharmacies
Contraception
We’re pleased to inform our patients that contraception services are now available at selected local pharmacies, making it easier and more convenient for you to access the care you need.
What Does This Mean?
You can now visit participating pharmacies for free access to a range of contraception services, including:

Starting or renewing the contraceptive pill

Emergency contraception (morning after pill)

Contraceptive advice and support
These services are provided confidentially, and in most cases, without the need to see your GP.
Why This Change?
This initiative is part of an NHS plan to expand access to contraception by making it available in community settings. It helps reduce waiting times at GP practices while giving patients more flexibility and choice in where they receive care.

Garners Pharmacy
Garners Ickenham Pharmacy offers the NHS Contraceptive Pill Service, providing free, confidential consultations—either in-store or via video. Our trained pharmacists can help you start or continue oral contraception (combined or progestogen-only pills). Eligible individuals (from menarche to age 49 for combined pills, and up to age 54 for progestogen-only pills) can receive expert advice and a supply of the pill. If you’re not eligible, we’ll refer you to the appropriate care.

What is the Coil and Pessary Clinic?
This clinic provides coil fittings for women with heavy menstrual bleeding and pessary fittings for those experiencing discomfort. Your GP may refer you for a pessary fitting.
You will be attended to by a GP who specializes in gynecology and has specific qualifications and experience in fitting coils.
How to Schedule an Appointment?
Your GP practice can schedule an appointment for you. If you’d like to be seen outside of regular hours, please inquire about this when booking.

The confederation offers additional appointment hours beyond the usual GP opening hours. They are open from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM on Saturdays, and 9 AM to 1 PM on Sundays.

What is Spirometry?
Spirometry is a breathing test that measures various lung volumes and how quickly you can inhale and exhale air. The results help your doctor and healthcare team make a diagnosis and monitor your condition.
During the test, you will breathe into a machine using a mouthpiece several times to ensure accurate results. The technician administering the test will guide you through each step.
Who Is This For?
This clinic operates on a referral-only basis. Your GP will send us a referral form if:
- You are 16 years or older with suspected COPD or asthma
- You have not been previously diagnosed with COPD or asthma
