Non-NHS Services and Fees
Our GP contract with the NHS covers medical care and treatment provided to NHS patients. However, GPs are often asked to complete additional, non-medical tasks for other organisations or individuals. These requests fall outside of NHS-funded work and may therefore incur a private fee.
GPs are sometimes approached for such work because of their trusted role in the community or to confirm that certain information—for example, for insurance or employment—is accurate and reliable.
Examples of non-NHS services for which a GP may charge NHS patients include:

Certificates or forms for insurance claims.

Fitness-to-exercise reports for gyms or sports clubs.

Pre-employment medical assessments requested by employers.
Examples of non-NHS services requested by organisations include:

Medical reports for insurance or life assurance companies.

Assessments for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) regarding disability or attendance allowances.

Reports for local authorities relating to adoption or fostering.
Please note that GPs are not required to undertake non-NHS work, except in specific cases such as confirming that a patient is unable to attend jury service. While we aim to assist where possible, such services are not part of routine NHS care and may involve a separate fee.

Please complete the form below if you require a letter, report, or certificate that is not covered by the NHS. Once submitted, our administrative team will forward your request to the appropriate clinician. If any additional information is needed, we will contact you directly. ⚠️ Important Information: - These services are private and therefore not funded by the NHS. - Requests cannot be processed during routine NHS appointments. - Please allow up to 15 working days for completion, unless your request has been marked as urgent. - Applicable fees will be payable upon collection of the completed document.
